IMBRA compliance

-1/24/06 Update
After considering the administrative tasks involved and the relatively small degree of relevance to our core "community based service" we have decided to no longer offer for purchase the contact information of any member effective March 6th 2006. La Casa De Amor distinguished itself over three years ago by breaking from the "addresses for sale" model in favor of a more effective community based model. The La Casa De Amor system does not require purchasing any address information and empowers the woman to decide if she wants to provide contact information at her discretion.

-1/26/06 Update
The programs which will make La Casa De Amor IMBRA compliant are nearly finished. IMBRA packs are being sent to all participating US members. These must be completed by the effective date of the law or your account will be disabled until such time as it is complete.

US clients should expect significant limitations within various aspects of the site, including chat, forums and instant messaging. We are required to ensure that you have NO ability to communicate via any means with any foreign lady until she has both received and acknowledged your IMBRA disclosure file and received a copy of a pamphlet explaining her right in the US.

While we have the technical know how to accomplish compliance it should be made clear that for US citizens accomplishing compliance will mean significant changes to services offered.

Changes to service affecting La Casa De Amor as of March 6th 2006.

1. Guest chat will be permanently shut down.
2. Guest forums will be permanently shut down.
3. Member chat will not be accessible or visable to US clients.
4. Member forums will not be accessible or visable to US clients.
5. Profiles, emailing and instant messaging will be available to all US and foreign clients but will be handled through our special matching program which will determine if you are eligible to communicate with a particular lady. By eligible we mean that the lady you wish to communicate with has read and signed off on your IMBRA information and that La Casa De Amor is in possession of both a hard copy of your signed IMBRA file and a hard copy of the ladies acknowledgment of have received your IMBRA file.
6. We are closing any gaps which might allow for a US client to communicate or acquire the means to communicate with a foreign lady. Such include, but are not limited to posts of emails in chat and forums or using other systems to relay contact information to any non-eligable party.

These measures implemented by March 6th 2006 bring La Casa De Amor into compliance with the new IMBRA law.

-3/5/06 Update
We have been implementing changes in compliance with IMBRA throughout the week and completed implementation today.

We are now IMBRA compliant.

We would like to thank those of you that returned your IMBRA statments promptly. You will find our matching program makes compliance with IMBRA easy.

We are also pleased that nearly 90% of our US members chose to fill out an IMBRA disclosure statment. We were admittedly concerned that many would not. Your response tells us how much you value La Casa De Amor.

-9/2/06 Update IMPORTANT!
La Casa De Amor recently discovered a programming error that circumvented the matching program. This means that some users may have been able to communicate without the matching program recognizing the users as requiring IMBRA acknowledgements.

Those errors have been corrected. And a message is being sent to all members detailing the issue.

It is VERY important that any foreign members you are communicating with have read and acknowledged your IMBRA file, both because this is required by law and because with out an official acknowledgement you will not be able to acquire a VISA for your spouse to be.
